Frequently asked questions
Everything you wanted to know about tracking your poo but were too polite to ask.
What is Poochievements?
Poochievements is a free, private poo tracker and gut health app. You log each bowel movement using the Bristol Stool Chart, add colour, pain, fluids, symptoms and food triggers, and the app turns it into a Gut Balance Score, charts, trigger insights and a printable report for your doctor — with XP, levels, 47 trophies, daily quests and mini-games to keep you motivated.
Is Poochievements free?
Yes. Every feature is free with no ads and no trackers. The project is funded by optional donations that cover server and domain costs — see the support page.
Do I need an account?
Yes. Registration is required so your logs are stored securely and available on any device, and so you can recover your account with a password reset email. You can delete your account and every piece of data at any time from Settings.
What is the Bristol Stool Chart?
It is a medical scale that sorts stools into seven types, from separate hard lumps (Type 1) to entirely liquid (Type 7). Types 3 and 4 are considered ideal. See our illustrated Bristol Stool Chart guide.
Can I install it on my phone?
Yes. Poochievements is an installable web app. On iPhone, open it in Safari, tap Share, then “Add to Home Screen”. On Android, open it in Chrome and tap “Install app” or “Add to Home screen”. It then opens full-screen like a native app.
Is my data private?
Your logs are visible only to you. We do not sell data, show ads or use tracking analytics. Passwords are stored as one-way Argon2id or bcrypt hashes. You can export everything as CSV or JSON and permanently delete your account at any time. Read the privacy policy.
Can Poochievements diagnose a condition?
No. It is a tracking and education tool, not a medical device. Its safety alerts point you to NHS guidance and tell you when to contact a GP, NHS 111 or emergency services, but only a healthcare professional can diagnose you.
What does the Gut Balance Score measure?
It is a 0–100 score combining consistency (how many stools are Type 3–4), regularity (frequency within the normal range of three a day to three a week, plus timing), comfort (pain and straining), hydration (fluids you log) and safety (red-flag entries). It is a motivational guide, not a clinical measure.
How do the food trigger insights work?
When you tag foods such as dairy, caffeine or spicy food, the app compares how often your stools were abnormal on logs with and without each tag. After a few weeks it highlights possible links — remember correlation isn’t proof, so discuss changes with your GP or a dietitian.
How do I share my data with my doctor?
Open Reports in the app and generate the doctor report. It summarises your Bristol types, colours, symptoms, medication and any red-flag entries, and you can print it or save it as a PDF. CSV and JSON downloads are available too.
I forgot my password — what do I do?
Use the forgot password page. We will email a single-use reset link that expires after one hour. Resetting signs you out on every other device.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings → Danger zone → Delete my account, confirm your password and type DELETE. Your account, logs, trophies and quiz history are permanently erased immediately — nothing is kept.
